WHAT
SELLS?
To be successful as an IFA journalist, you should be writing regularly
on subjects that have worldwide appeal.
INTERVIEWS
Personal interviews are generally the features that are most requested,
and these make up the majority of what we offer. Still, features
that do not contain interview material, such as travel or beauty
features, can be interesting to editors as well if they have a
sense of uniqueness.

APPEAL
As obvious as it may sound, a feature has
to have international appeal in order for an editor in another
country to be interested in it. An interview with a local band,
for instance, usually won't be requested,
nor will a feature on a Dutch soap series generate a lot of interest
outside of Holland.
TIMELINESS
While some topics and subjects never grow old, most features depend
heavily on their timeliness: is there a new album or film coming
out? A new product launch taking place? A scandal, romance, or
tragedy that has just happened?
