How much does a feature cost?
When we start working together we'll discuss a general price agreement which is acceptable to both of us. Factors in determining price include region, circulation, client budget requirements, usage (number of pages, cover use) and exclusivity.

How can you guarantee exclusivity?
We have exclusivity contracts with all of our sources. When we send you a feature to consider, you will have an exclusive 3-day option to decide whether or not to publish. If you decide to publish the feature it will not be offered to any other publication in your country.

Am I buying the copyright when I purchase an IFA feature?
No. You purchase the exclusive one-time publication rights for your country.

Can I read a feature before deciding to purchase it?
Yes. You have three days to read it before deciding.

Can I make specific requests?
Yes you can. If we don't have the feature on file already, we'll try our best to find it or have it written especially for you. If you're looking for something specific right now, send us a request.

Does IFA sell photography?
Yes, selected features come as text/picture packages. However, we are not a stock photo agency and therefore hardly ever carry photography that can be sold separately from text.

Are all of your features in English?
The majority of our texts are written in English, although we also represent journalists who write in Dutch, German & Spanish.

How much money can I expect to make through IFA?
You can make up to €2000+ a month depending on the quality of work and how often you contribute. The best way to ensure that you have a steady income from IFA is to file stories as frequently as possible so that payments are coming in as you are waiting for others. To read more about what sells go to What We Offer.

When do I get paid?
You'll get paid as soon as we've been paid by our clients.

How do I know when my features are sold?
We'll send you sales reports on a regular basis.

Where will you send my material?
We will offer your stories in all the countries we work in (over 45) with the exception of those excluded in your representation contract with IFA.

Do I have to sign a contract?
Yes, before we begin selling your features we'll ask you to sign an agreement detailing the terms of working with us. This isn't a document where you’ll be signing away your soul… it's just a simple way of making sure we're both on the same page.

Am I free to act on my own if I work with IFA?
You may not act on your own in the countries where IFA represents you. In countries that are not included in the contract you may do as you please.

Do I lose my copyright by signing up?
No, the copyright remains with you. We only sell one-time publication rights.

Do I have to write in English?
Preferably, but not necessarily. English is the one language that nearly all of our clients can speak and/or read – more so than any other language. Therefore submitting features in English is to your advantage. However, languages like German, Spanish & French should find a fair-sized audience among our editors. In addition, very exclusive material will be translated to English.

Can I start my writing career with IFA?
Unfortunately not. Since much of what we do is syndication, it's important that you're already working with at least a few publications before starting to work with us. For details on our requirements click here.

How do I sign-up?
Contact IFA as soon as possible and let's see what we can do!
